Apple cider syrup is an old Appalachian tradition, preserving the rich flavors of fresh apple juice by boiling it over a wood fire, concentrating it into a rich syrup Troddenvale presses local apples and brings the fresh juice to Tonoloway Farm. Together we boil it on a wood-fired evaporator just like maple or walnut syrup, until we concentrate the sugars and flavors into pure cider syrup. Enjoy the tart intensity of gold rush apples as an ingredient in cooking (we love it in coleslaw dressing) or as a topping on yogurt, oatmeal, pancakes!
Maple-cider syrup is a blend of pure Virginia maple syrup from Tonoloway Farm and our tart apple cider syrup. This blend offers a lovely balance of maple and apple flavors, without the tart intensity of pure cider syrup. It makes for a wonderful pancake, waffle or desert topping for apple lovers.
